Posters for a series of lectures.
uses over printing technology

next >>

This purely typographic poster series for a series of five lectures is based on the over printing technology. For the first lecture the information is written down in one single color (yellow). For the second lecture the information is over printed with another color (cyan) over the first poster, and so on... Through this technique the fifth poster becomes a typographical composition that plays with the boundaries of readability.

This visual language shall represent what happens with the listener when hearing a series of lectures: He/she hears the first lecture and when he/she hears the second one there are still parts of the first lecture in his/her head. The more lectures one hears the more information accumulates. Perhaps the listener has already forgotten a lot of the first lecture when it comes to hearing the fifth, but still something stays.

More than one person is speaking. And in our brains their words finally overlap somehow. Through their temporal closeness of the five individual lectures they kind of grow together to a diverse informative whole. One whole picture emerges, an interesting interaction of five different pictures that overlap, cover and complement one another. It depends on the subjective discretion of each individual listener to select which fragments, words or sentences he/she wants to keep in mind, so each listener will see and read the final poster in a different way.
