Flexible marking system for the Elementary School Satteins (Vorarlberg/Austria)

A special marking system should be developed for a new built Elementary School in Satteins / Austria. The main idea was to create something modifiable that has the potential to integrate the scholars in an uncomplicated way (if they want to be integrated):

The system is based on three plexiglass plates: The first plate is plane. The second (middle) plate has holes in it that can be filled optional with little colored plexiglass discs (so the scholars can come up with ideas how to design their own class-doorplate, if they want to have something individual in front of their door). Below the holes there is one long rectangle hole left open that can be filled with a plexiglass rectangle with a transparent removable optional printed sticker. Above the second plate comes a third plane one. These three plates are clung together on the upper side with a transparent removable sticker. On the lower side they are moved into a white-colored steel retainer that is fixed with the wall. Finally everything is tightened with two little socket head screws. It is very easy to remove the plexiglass plates from the retainer and change the text or motive through simply loosening the two screws.

The visual language of the marking system refers to an “art and architecture”-project for the Elementary School Satteins that is still in progress. (>> go to project)
